Ancient Olive Grove

The Ancient Olive Grove of Aegina, also known as Eleonas, is a hidden gem located just south of Pachia Rachi, about 8 kilometers from the port of Aegina. This grove is home to olive trees that are hundreds, and in some cases, thousands of years old, with some trees estimated to be between 1,500 and 2,000 years old.
Nestled in a secluded valley at the foothills of Mount Ellanion, the grove is a place of rare natural beauty. The landscape is dotted with ancient olive trees, some with trunks measuring up to 13 meters in circumference. These trees have gnarled and deeply grooved trunks, often resembling fantastical shapes and figures. The area is also rich in flora, including lentisks, Greek horehounds, thyme, and thistle, creating a picturesque scene.
The grove is not only a natural wonder but also a place of historical and cultural significance. Also the prestigious fashion house Hermès conducted a photoshoot in the picturesque olive grove of Aegina. This location, known for its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage, provided the perfect backdrop for showcasing Hermès‘ latest collection. The serene environment, filled with ancient olive trees and stunning Mediterranean views, added a unique charm to the photos, capturing the essence of both luxury and nature. The grove also features three whitewashed chapels: Agios Georgios, Agia Kyriaki, and Agia Triada (Holy Trinity), adding to its sacred atmosphere.
